At Shadow Work Journal, we believe that inner work requires absolute privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how we handle your information. The short version is: Your journal entries are yours alone.
By default, all your journal entries, reflections, and streak data are stored locally on your device. We do not transmit, read, or store your journal entries on our servers. Your archive is for you, not a social feed, and we do not have access to the contents of your writing.
If you subscribe to Shadow Pro, any pattern or personality-style synthesis is processed securely. [Note to developer: If processing happens on-device via CoreML, state it here. If it requires API calls, state: "Text processing for insights is anonymized and never stored beyond the immediate request."] Your data is grounded in what you write, but never used to train global AI models or sold to third parties.
Optional subscriptions (monthly or yearly) for Shadow Pro are processed directly through your App Store account. We do not collect or store your credit card information. You can manage or cancel your subscription directly in your device's account settings.
We may collect basic, anonymized crash reports and app usage data (like which prompts are most engaging) to improve the app. This data is entirely decoupled from your personal identity and the content of your journal entries.
Shadow Work Journal is a tool for self-reflection. It is not therapy, counseling, or medical advice. Because we do not monitor your entries, we cannot detect if you are in distress. If you are in crisis, please contact local emergency services immediately.
